Reverse-boom precision for hard-to-reach areas

Working with hard-to-reach catenary systems is effortless thanks to the advanced kinematics of the PKR crane series. The 80° reverse-articulated boom makes it possible to access catenary systems beyond the overhead line, while the double-lever system ensures consistent lifting capacity across all boom positions.

Combine our systems for maximum impact

PALFINGER railway units operate most efficiently in combination. Communication between PALFINGER equipment distributes stability throughout the vehicle to optimal effect – providing access to the maximum possible lifting capacity and reach at all times.

The positive impact of counterweights

A counterweight can significantly increase the vehicle’s stability, thereby improving performance – especially when working without stabilizers, whether stationary or at creep speed. Positioned at the optimal point with a large effective distance, the counterweight is more effective than having a ballast weight mounted on the vehicle.

Safety-driven design for high-performance lifting

The Power Link system optimizes lifting force in all arm positions. Its control system is PLd-compliant in accordance with EN 13849 and enables secure data transmission via the CANopen Safety protocol. The design supports combined operation of multiple units mounted on the same vehicle. Lateral and vertical movement limiters in accordance with ensure safe operation. All cranes comply fully with EN 12999 and with EN 280 if equipped with workman baskets.

Highlights

State-of-the-art cabin controls

Newly designed cabin controls enable effortless execution of even the most complex tasks. Operators can manage crane movements seamlessly and control the vehicle drive directly via the foot pedal. Furthermore, operators are well protected while operating a mulching unit or branch saw, safeguarding them against rocks or flying chunks of wood.

Continuous lifting capacity optimization on inlines

The strengths of PALFINGER railway systems come to the fore when operating on sections of track with significant cant. State-of-the-art sensors integrate inclination data in stability calculations in real time. This allows the crane’s lifting capacity to be continuously controlled at inclinations from 0° to 15°, eliminating the need for general load reductions.

Lateral and vertical movement limiters

The Railway Premium line’s parametric lateral and vertical movement limiters provide maximum range of motion with the highest level of safety (PLd as defined in EN 13849). The limit curves are calculated based on the specific track and vehicle parameters and corresponding safety measures in accordance with EN 14033. Paltronic relies on state-of-the-art sensors for dynamic, real-time monitoring of the crane’s position to prevent unsafe movements. An optional feature permits storage of up to four different lateral limit curves and three vertical height limit curves.

Full compliance with PLd

The Paltronic crane control system and its connected sensor system achieve Performance Level d (PLd) as defined in ISO 13849-1 for all relevant safety features.

Electrical earthing

PALFINGER relies on highly flexible earthing cables to ensure excellent protection against electric shocks. Every component – from the base to the crane tip – is connected with 2×50 mm² earth cables. Transparent insulation allows easy inspection of the cables for breaks or carbonization damage caused by stray currents. Units equipped with a work basket are also equipped with corresponding earth cables.
