PALFINGER delivers cranes to Brazil’s largest FPSO
PALFINGER’s marine business has won a major contract with MODEC, the leading supplier and operator of offshore systems for the global oil and gas industry, to supply two wire luffing lattice boom cranes to the largest FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel ever delivered to Brazil. It is MODEC’s first Brazilian offshore gas extraction project initiated by Equinor.
The vessel will be deployed in the Bacalhau field, about 185 kilometers off the Brazilian coast – south of São Paulo – at a water depth of around 2,050 meters. PALFINGER will deliver two DKW2500 wire luffing lattice boom cranes with a maximum lifting capacity of 35 tons and a maximum outreach of 50 meters to the FPSO. The cranes are scheduled to be delivered in February 2022.
The FPSO plant will be designed to produce and process up to 220,000 barrels of crude oil and up to 15 million cubic meters of gas per day. The minimum storage capacity will be two million barrels of crude oil.
PALFINGER contributes to Brazilian milestone offshore gas project
"We are looking forward to maintaining our fruitful and long-standing cooperation with MODEC by yet another exciting project. In fact, it is the fifth MODEC FPSO vessel operating in Brazil that is going to be outfitted with PALFINGER offshore cranes", says Radames Moreira, Application Engineer at PALFINGER’s marine business. "The cranes are based on the type we delivered to Equinor’s Johan Sverdrup field”, continues Sverre Mowinckel-Nilsen, Sales Director for PALFINGER’s marine and handling solutions. “With this reference in mind as well as our strong local service set-up in Brazil, we are confident that we will make a vital contribution to this milestone project”, he concludes.
