Eko-Okna adds 70 PALFINGER Truck Mounted Forklifts

30.04.2018

Polish Window & Door manufacturer adds another 70 Palfinger Truck Mounted Forklifts to their distribution fleet.

Eko-Okna has been a leading European supplier of windows, doors and related products since 1998. Its range includes pvc, aluminium and wood, which are delivered to 33 export locations from its base in Kornice in the south of Poland. To streamline deliveries and offer a more convenient service to its customers, the company has invested in an additional 70 Palfinger truck mounted forklifts (TMF).

All of Eko-Oknas deliveries are carried out with its own fleet of more than 300 vehicles complete with Wecon trailers and Palfinger Truck Mounted forklifts directly to construction sites where sub-contractors may be at work with no direct access to a forklift. Potential delays onsite and limited access for the delivery trucks prompted Eko-Okna’s management to look at the options for self-offloading to make the procedure more flexible, faster and safer.

Dawid Wyrtki (Director of Transport and Logistics) at Eko-Okna evaluated other Truck Mounted Forklift brands but decided that the Palfinger F3 253 PX model, supplied by the official Palfinger importer HLS, best suited their needs. It can be dismounted from the back of the truck and be ready for work in around 60 seconds by the driver without having to climb on to the forklift, by simply using the forklift ‘ground controls’. One of the key features which influenced Eko-Okna was the unique central driving position, which provides the operator with optimum all round visibility and safety, particularly when working in confined spaces with oversized loads.

Incorporating additional Palfinger Truck Mounted Forklifts into the fleet was definitely a good move for Dawid Wyrtki: “The Truck Mounted Forklifts have given us an extra level of flexibility and control of our deliveries.

The Palfinger F3 253 PX is fitted with telescopic forks and side shift which combined with 3 – wheel design ensures different size loads can be delivered through gateways or in confined spaces which cannot be negotiated by large delivery vehicles. It therefore allows a truck to be parked away from the delivery area in a suitable and safe location which avoids wasting time, getting stuck and the potential for damage to the vehicle or property. The forklift also has excellent rough terrain ability due to all-wheel drive and differential lock which enables it to operate in the toughest conditions on building sites. A lift capacity of 2500kg ensures that even the largest packs of windows and doors can be easily lifted and transported to where they are required.
