I have the smallest Palfinger crane with the remote on my work truck. The remote isn't the fancy one with the control levers, but you can still feather the buttons to control the crane and it works pretty good, I enjoy using it. The crane is well designed and seems to be a high quality product. The team in Atlanta does excellent work, and has really stuck it out with us to finish this project. Originally, the crane was installed in March of 2020 by a company in Sylvester GA that messed up the installation in every conceivable way, first by ordering and installing a crane without a remote. The remote is installed on the crane at the manufacturer in Austria, and it costs $11k more to retrofit the remote, and they will only do it at their shop because it is complicated to install. It is a completely different control system, and it has a larger hydraulic tank. The second way the original install was FUBAR'd, was that the crane has to be installed with a subframe between it and the frame of the truck. Due to the great number of possible installation scenarios, the subframe is custom-built. Palfinger does supply drawings of the basic parameters. The original installer completely ignored these guidelines and installed the crane without any subframe, making it a very unsafe installation. Sylvester, GA is a small town in Southern Georgia, and there is only one company there that builds service trucks there. They have made no efforts to rectify the situation. I wouldn't recommend them for any type of work... EVER. It cost us $20K in addition to what these people in Sylvester got paid to fix this installation and get the remote installed. When Palfinger found out about our problems, they stayed in communication with us throughout COVID and everything. The end result is a safe and very usable addition to our shop. Many thanks to Jason Jankowski there in Atlanta, and the shop foreman (I'm sorry I can't remember his name), for all the time and emails and the excellent quality work they performed.
