Balancing work and family life during the nine-week summer break is a recurring challenge for many parents. For the eighth consecutive year, PALFINGER’s summer childcare program provided support for employees and their families across three locations. This year, a record 116 children took part in a range of activities, highlighting PALFINGER’s commitment to a family-friendly workplace.

In cooperation with “Kinderfreunde Innviertel“ and the municipalities of Bergheim, Lengau and Köstendorf, PALFINGER once again offered a diverse summer program for children aged five to twelve. Through games, sports and outdoor activities, the children had opportunities to discover new things, stay active and share experiences, while their parents could focus on their work.

Holidays with Added Value

A particular highlight was the visit to the PALFINGER World in Lengau. There, the children enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the world’s largest PALFINGER production site, assembled their own crane models and used VR headsets to immerse themselves in the world of PALFINGER products.

For many PALFINGER families, the childcare program has become an established part of the summer holidays. This year’s record participation of 116 children further underlines its popularity.

“Our daughter has taken part in the summer childcare program for several years and looks forward to it every time. As parents, it is a great relief to know that she is having a wonderful time and is being well cared for. I also appreciate how the program introduces children to technology through play. If we want to encourage more women to pursue technical careers in the future, we need to spark an interest in these subjects from an early age,” says Gregor Schibranji, Finance Business Partner at PALFINGER.

Family-Friendly Culture as Part of Strategy 2030+

The summer childcare program is part of a broader range of measures designed to help PALFINGER employees balance work and family responsibilities at different stages of life. These measures include, amongst others, flexible working hours, the option to work from home, and support with childcare and caregiving. PALFINGER has been officially certified as a family-friendly company since 2025 and continues to expand its initiatives in this area.

“When it comes to balancing work and family life, the summer holidays can be a real challenge for parents. With the PALFINGER summer childcare program, we provide practical and reliable support for families while giving children the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of experiences. Along the way, they also gain their first exposure to technology and our world of work, and some may even be inspired to consider a future career at PALFINGER,” says Maria Koller, CHRO at PALFINGER.

The strategic program “Lifting Brand & Culture” within Strategy 2030+ underscores the importance of such measures. It aims to create a working environment that supports employees throughout different stages of life while further strengthening PALFINGER’s position as an attractive employer. When employees can successfully balance their professional and personal responsibilities, they have greater scope to fulfil their potential and contribute to PALFINGER’s ambition of Being Better.
