The Future of Road- Rail Technology: Palfinger Paving the Way for Innovation

10.01.2024

In a constantly evolving world, innovative technologies take center stage in advancements, particularly when it comes to flexible and efficient solutions for rail technology.

In June 2022, EQOS Energie made a groundbreaking investment by acquiring one of the world's largest road-rail vehicles for overhead line installation from the manufacturer Hilton. All three devices on the vehicle are supplied by PALFINGER.

Versatility and Efficiency

The MAN TGS 8x4 32 chassis is equipped with a hydrostatically driven rail drive system consisting of two bogies. With a configuration comprising an access platform PALFINGER PA 1002, a PKR 115 railway crane, and a PFD 99 wire positioner, the vehicle sets new standards for the performance of road-rail vehicles in this field. The PKR crane with an upward-folding articulated arm and the PA 1002 with a three-part workman basket ensure optimal work under and on the catenary. What was previously only possible with traditional rail-bound vehicles can now be achieved with significantly more compact and flexible road-rail vehicles. The combination of three PALFINGER devices on a road-rail vehicle is a central factor and is unique in this configuration.

"This new vehicle provides significant ease and flexibility in accessing construction sites, both on rail and on the road. This reduces deployment times, and the execution of work becomes more straightforward," emphasizes Bernhard Schuller, Head of the Profit Center Overhead Lines Austria at EQOS Energie.

The future of road-rail technology is on the right track with PALFINGER's commitment to innovation and efficiency. The versatility, efficiency, and environmental friendliness of their products make them a key component for urban developments and infrastructure projects. PALFINGER continues to set industry standards and paves the way for a future where mobility and efficiency go hand in hand.
