Supplier Quality Specialist - Welding Technology (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Specialist - Welding Technology to join our team in Sofia. In this role, you will ensure that our external suppliers meet defined delivery-quality objectives in line with the procurement strategy and the company’s Group policies. You will drive a continuous improvement of supplier delivery quality and help reduce quality-related costs resulting from supplier complaints, non-conformities, and warranty cases. Your responsibilities will include supporting suppliers during prototype development, initial sampling and testing, as well as conducting and accompanying product and process audits. Working closely with Procurement, Engineering, Production, and our suppliers, you will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards across the supply chain and ensuring the successful introduction of new products and technologies.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Select, approve, and onboard suppliers in collaboration with Procurement, ensuring compliance with PALFINGER standards, quality assurance agreements, and ongoing process-suitability requirements
- Develop and support suppliers systematically by defining relevant quality indicators, improving technical and organisational processes, and continuously raising quality standards across the supply base
- Manage supplier communication and performance, including supplier visits, audits, KPI monitoring, test-specification planning, and follow-up on agreed corrective actions
- Support prototypes, initial samples, and pre-series activities by coordinating initial sample processes and testing, defining supplier quality assurance measures, and taking responsibility for relocation projects
- Coordinate complaints and warranty topics by analysing key issues, developing action plans with suppliers, tracking corrective measures, coordinating internal and external complaint handling, and supporting part closures
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical qualification, such as technical school education or master craftsman certification
- Proven theoretical and practical welding knowledge, ideally certified as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT)
- Several years of experience in Quality Management/Quality Assurance, including measurement technology, metallurgy, quality methods, and non-destructive testing (NDT), as well as supplier quality management
- Qualification as a Quality Management System Manager and Auditor, strong SAP and MS Office skills, and fluent written and spoken English
- Strong communication and intercultural collaboration skills in an international environment, with willingness to travel internationally across Europe and Asia for up to 50% of working time
