As Global Customs Expert (f/m/d) the role is responsible for designing, governing and continuously developing the Group’s global customs management system as part of the overall Trade Compliance approach. The position drives the transformation from local customs activities towards a globally harmonized governance model with standardized processes, clear responsibilities, reliable data, effective controls and transparent reporting.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, maintain and continuously improve the Group’s global customs management system, define the customs strategy and lead the transformation towards a harmonized governance model
- Define roles, responsibilities, decision rights, interfaces and escalation paths within the global customs network; align central functions, local entities, brokers and advisors
- Standardize and improve customs processes relating to classification, origin, valuation, preferential treatment, broker management and recordkeeping; ensure reliable trade master data and identify opportunities to optimize customs-related costs
- Establish KPIs, risk indicators, management reporting, self-assessments and review routines; monitor control effectiveness, identify systemic gaps and coordinate corrective and preventive actions
- Develop training and communication activities, provide practical guidance to local entities, support authority audits and reviews, coordinate responses where appropriate, and follow up on agreed corrective actions
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Tax, International Trade or a related field; customs-specific training or professional certification is an advantage
- Relevant experience in customs, Trade Compliance, international logistics, supply chain management, tax or a comparable governance role within an international industrial company
- Knowledge of customs law and operations, including tariff classification, origin and preference, customs valuation, import and export procedures, recordkeeping and broker management; experience with AEO requirements is beneficial
- Experience with ERP-based customs systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP GTS, MIC or AEB, customs data management and transformation projects is preferred
- Excellent communication, coordination and influencing skills, combined with high integrity, reliability and the confidence to act as a central governance function and advise non-experts on customs matters

Minimum yearly gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 53.241,02 based on full-time employment. According to experience and qualification, we offer a market-conform overpayment.
