PALFINGER Pal Pro Mechanics Trucks & Service Cranes
Michigan CAT - A TRUE PARTNER
With corporate offices in Novi, MI, Michigan CAT works with their customers to ensure they are equipped with the best solutions and support before, during and after the sale. From general diagnostic and repair services, to preventative maintenance, and machine assembly/disassembly, Michigan CAT’s service department demands durable and reliable service trucks to increase their customer’s uptime and get the job done. When Michigan CAT began the search for a new mechanics truck supplier, they sought a solution that was user-friendly, functional, durable, rust resistant and had a high lifting capacity. After attending many tradeshows and speaking with their local distributor, PALFINGER quickly became their number one preferred supplier.
Ken Meerschaert, Eastern Regional Operations Director at Michigan CAT, has worked for the company for 24 years. When asked about his overall experience with their fleet of PALFINGER PAL Pro mechanics trucks, Ken replied, “in the last four years, PALFINGER has continued to meet our expectations by being a solutions provider. They have been instrumental in helping us solve problems with innovative ideas, such as the man basket. The products have been proven to be durable and hold up through the extremes of the ever-changing climate in Michigan.” When it comes to unique features, Meerschaert appreciates the ability for PALFINGER and their local distributor, Versalift Midwest, to meet customization requirements of Michigan CAT’s specifications. “Our operators can’t get enough of the PAL Pro and the man basket—they love the support, functionality, ease of use and durability.”
Michigan CAT utilizes a full spread of PAL Pro mechanics truck models for the different requirements the company has on a daily basis. For light duty repair, maintenance, and diagnosis, PAL Pro 20 class bodies equipped with compact PSC 4016 service cranes are utilized. Power Systems, Marine, and equipment repair and maintenance operations are where the PAL Pro 39 and PSC 6025 have been successfully applied. Heavy duty repair and maintenance draws the strength and payload capacity provided by the PAL Pro 72 paired with a PSC 6229 crane.
PALFINGER’s mechanics truck bodies and cranes are E-coated inside and out to provide industry leading corrosion resistance. During the harsh winters in Michigan, corrosion is a big issue when it comes to protecting fleet equipment. “Our expectations with PALFINGER’s E-coat are exceeded. Our uptime has improved because we are not wasting time and money with rust, repairs, or repainting. We will always have a positive customer perception with a service truck that looks this incredible!” expressed Meerschaert.
Although the performance of the PAL Pro mechanics truck is critical for Michigan CAT’s service technicians, the after sales support is equally as important. With many years of industry experience, Ken comments, “PALFINGER is a true partner to their local up-fitters as well as the end user. Since our first PALFINGER, we have continually improved our fleet by buying additional units. Based on the performance and support, we fully expect to continue this trend in the future.”
