Are you ready to shape the future of cutting-edge marine technology on a global scale? As an Advanced Software Engineer for PALFINGER Marine, you will take the technical lead in developing embedded control systems for our Marine and Wind cranes. This role goes far beyond coding—it’s about designing robust real-time software, ensuring safety and cybersecurity compliance, and driving innovation from concept to certification. 

If you excel at translating technical vision into real-world performance, guiding a skilled development team, and delivering intelligent control solutions that set new industry standards, this position is for you.

Your responsibilities 

  • Development of embedded control software for cranes in maritime environment, by planning of the software architecture, creation of functional requirements, implementation of software on real time systems, quality assurance with tests and software validation and documentation throughout the development process
  • Technical management of the development team and project management
  • Ensuring software conformity to rules and standards, especially for safety and cybersecurity as well as collaboration in the certification of the control systems by notified bodies
  • Implementation of custom solutions and enhancements of existing systems 
  • Creation of internal standards and rules, as well as technical support of other departments

Your qualifications

  • Completed technical education (UNI, FH, HTL) in the field of software engineering, computer science, mechatronic, electrical engineering, automation engineering or equivalent
  • Many years of professional experience in software development of embedded real-time systems and in managing software projects
  • Excellent knowledge of the programming languages C and C++, experience with fieldbus communication (CANopen) and preferably with safety (EN ISO 13849, IEC 61508) and cybersecurity
  • Organized and structured way of working, analytical and rational thinking, capable of independent work and team player
  • Fluent in German and English
