PALFINGER ACCESS PLATFORMS: SOLUTIONS FOR THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY
Access platforms from PALFINGER are being used more and more frequently for the expansion and modification of telecommunication stations. Thanks to their flexibility and high performance, they keep the workload and needed time as low as possible.
With the 5G technology, the next generation of mobile telephone is in the starting blocks in many countries or has already been successfully introduced in some cases. For the expansion of the necessary transmission infrastructure and for the conversion of existing transmission towers, as well as for some service work to be carried out, it is often necessary for a technician to work directly on the towers during installation or to take a close look at some possible sources of interference. This was the case in Brisbane, Australia, where the company HVAC was commissioned to retrofit or reinforce around 30 existing transmission towers. Specifically, this showcased job was about reinforcing an existing concrete pillar with a steel sheath.
In addition to a telescopic crane, which lifted the heavy steel parts to the mast, a P 480 owned by Performance Tower Hire supplied by Lincon Logistics, the PALFINGER platforms agent was used for the installation process. Thanks to its horizontal reach of up to 33 meters, it is ideally suited for rough terrain and hard-to-reach areas and is therefore a frequently used access platform in Australia. The possible working height of around 48 meters is particularly advantageous for operations in the telecommunications sector, as it also allows work to be carried out on the upper areas of the transmission towers. During installation, the HVAC technicians benefited from the great flexibility of the cage boom, which ensures simple and precise positioning thanks to its 2 x 200° rotation option. In addition, thanks to a maximum basket load of 600 kilograms, it was also possible to transport spare parts and various tools upwards
The combination of innovative technology, weight-optimized design and maximum performance in use make the P 480 a universal talent for various tasks in the telecommunications industry and rental sector. Particularly in the rental business, its versatility and flexibility make it one of the most sought-after access platforms in Australia for Performance Tower Hire.
