A SPECIAL EQUIPMENT TRUCK FOR A RECYCLING COMPANY

16.08.2021

Schultz Recycling GmbH has created a remarkable transport solution for its own needs. The Kropp-based company is active in the collection and recycling of metals in Schleswig-Holstein. Two of the three trucks equipped with PALFINGER hookloaders have additional equipment. In addition to the DIN 30722 skips, the trucks can also take on a special container with a permanently mounted Epsilon Q170 L 95 Triple recycling crane. The crane container can be loaded from both sides by the hookloader.

Depending on the requirements, the truck goes to the site with the recycling crane at the end of the trailer or behind the cab. Four hydraulic locking devices mounted on the lifting arm ensure a firm connection between the crane body cradle and the truck chassis. The PALFINGER operating system does not release the crane until a signal has confirmed the locking. Another special feature is the PALFINGER HPSC stability system and the third telescopic extension on the second articulated boom. The latter ensures a long reach with the multi-grip grapple, but also offers the shortest possible depositing position for the transport position. The hydraulic pipes are protected, as is the hydraulic cylinder mounted on the top of the first articulated boom with the knee-joint technique. The 2 stabilisers can be swung up hydraulically by radio. The crane body can therefore be set down or picked up from the ground as usual. The connection between the hydraulics and the electrics on the chassis is made by means of quick couplings. In addition to the radio control, a control unit is installed on the crane's pillar seat.

The driver, Jörg Doormann, usually operates with a trailer, in which case the crane body is directed to the rear. "From the pillar seat, I have an excellent view of the working environment during loading operations and can load the containers from both sides," reports Doormann.

The bodywork was produced by Querhammer Fahrzeugbau in Gettorf, near Kropp. PALFINGER supplied the hookloaders as well as the Epsilon crane with a pre-configured interface for the additional safety circuit of the crane body lock.

Safety devices such as a reversing camera, light strips or several working lights ensure safety even during operations in the dark winter months. They complement the active safety systems of the PALFINGER bodies and underline the quality of all vehicles supplied by Querhammer Fahrzeug. A storage box and an accessible rear axle box made of indestructible aluminium sheeting are also included.
