PALFINGER PK16000 loader crane retrieves spacecraft return capsule

07.05.2020

On 8th May 2020, a new generation manned spacecraft test landed safely at the Dongfeng landing site, in China. The PK 16000 knuckle boom crane was tasked with the retrieval of the re-entry capsule, lifting it from the desert ground and transporting the capsule out of the Gobi desert overnight.

Purchased more than 12 years old by the local aerospace department, our PK 16000 continues to be reliable and is used for the lifting of precision instruments and equipment. From the launch of Shenzhou VI in 2005, to today’s new generation of manned spacecraft, the recovery of spacecraft’s re-entry capsule has been completed by the truck-mounted crane in PALFINGER.

PALFINGER is proud to be part of mankind’s efforts in our journeys to explore space.
