PALFINGER is currently seeking an experienced Manager, Materials Management supporting our Trenton, NJ manufacturing facility. This is an opportunity to build a team and provide direction in helping the plant reach the next level of operational excellence!

 

Manager, Materials Management:

The Manager, Materials Management will be responsible for directing and overseeing all Materials operations involving Planning, Receiving, Inspections, Inventory Control, Warehousing, Shipping, Returns, Audit, Analysis and Customer Service for all materials and merchandise in the Trenton Plant. By working closely with Quality and Plant Leadership, the Manager will play an integral role in facilitating and supporting the Plant and Company goals of quality, growth and operational excellence.

 

Specifically, the Manager will be managing the auditing of bills of lading for actual merchandise received, and inspections of materials for good condition, in cooperation with the Quality Manager and Quality Inspectors. Additionally, they will be responsible for shipping finished goods, returns and other materials to customers and suppliers, working with internal and external shipping and distribution resources to achieve quality goals.

 

As a leader, the Manager will direct, train, evaluate and manage a team of material inspectors in order for the organization to have access to the materials and inputs it needs to operate efficiently, and so all materials and merchandise are received, stored and distributed safely, cost-effectively, accurately, and on-time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine, develop and document all work instructions for materials receiving, inventory control management and shipping
  • Train and performance manage materials management team on processes, systems and best practices
  • Provide leadership for SAP system implementation and transformation
  • Accurately document all receivables from their multiple sources (FedEx, UPS, USPS, Pine Drivers, Customer Drop Off and other sources)
  • Assist the Quality Department with inspections of all equipment/components/material upon arrival
  • Promptly communicates any and all discrepancies (missing items, damages, unexpected returns and any others that come up) with operations management and scheduling
  • Generate receipt reports with three (3) check off/sign off process
  • Manage Inventory Control process to insure the material is added to inventory, secured, and distributed accordingly, insuring safe stocks and cycle counts are done accurately
  • Lead periodic and annual audits
  • Manage shipping of finished goods, returns and other materials to customers, suppliers and others as required
  • Collaborate closely with Plant, Quality and Safety functions, and internal/external distribution resources
  • Drive and support the integration of 2 business lines into one business
  • Correctly interpret and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Measure work performance; compares results to objectives; takes corrective actions
  • Drive culture of excellence, high customer service and continuous improvement

Qualifications and Skills needed:

  • 5+years of experience in a Materials Management or Operations role requiring materials and labor management and scheduling abilities
  • Demonstrated experience with durable goods material planning, inventory control, shipping, receiving, reporting, audit, and systems management
  • Ability analyze, develop and implement improvements to procedures and methods regarding inventory accuracy, operational processes, streamlining and customer service.
  • Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management and within tight deadlines
  • Experience with the SAP inventory control manufacturing module
  • Ability to build, lead, manage and train a strong, high performing team
  • Microsoft Office Skills required, MS Visio and MS Professional preferred. Experience in Sage 2018 a plus
  • High School Diploma/GED required, Post-secondary education in manufacturing management-supply chain management strongly encouraged
