Product Line (PL) Quality Manager

Job Summary

Implement quality standards, processes, and tools in the Product Line in coordination with Team Lead PLQM. This function ensures that all development steps for new developments are in line with our PDP (Palfinger Development Process) principles regarding quality and safety-relevant criteria within his PL and are documented in a traceable manner. He leads the quality circle in his product line, coordinates market actions, initiates and monitors corrective actions across the entire process chain and manages FMEAs in cooperation with the specialist departments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review of development inputs & results within the framework of the PDP milestones
  • Development of quality standards for new business models and product lines, together with Product Line Quality Management
  • Prioritizing resources and projects through the PLs with the PLLs
  • Ensure that the local quality management system meets the sustainable requirements within the product lines in line with the design quality requirements as well as norms and standards
  • Auditing and roll-out of QA standards for the product lines
  • Ensure that the quality policy is understood, implemented, and adhered to within the product lines
  • Installation and execution of Q-circle meetings within the own product line
  • Monitoring changes and product improvements (releases)
  • Close communication with CPLQM and the production plants
  • Data analysis for the implementation of improvement measures across all product lines
  • Management of product recalls across product lines
  • Coordinate Q-Projects to improve the quality or processes


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/steel construction/electrical engineering and/or 3 years of professional experience (preferably in product development or Quality Management)
  • Auditor experience desirable
  • Experience in project and process management
  • Confident in the use of design quality development tools
  • Development of specifications for ensuring design quality
  • Confident in dealing with external auditors and clients
  • Communication and assertiveness skills
  • Goal- and company-oriented action
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to understand, communicate and manage complex issues
  • Willingness to take on responsibility
