Head of Center of Excellence (CoE) - System Management & Engineering (f/m/d)



  • Measure, evaluate and report the actual performance of the global product line management and R&D organization and all related projects and initiatives and drives continuous improvement activities in close collaboration with other CoE’s and product lines
  • Define and implement common system engineering processes, tools methods and capabilities across all product lines
  • Define and manage a coherent R&D tool-chain in close collaboration with all responsible CoE’s, Competence Clusters and the ICT
  • Define and implement a short-, mid- & long-term strategy to develop and maintain a fully integrated cyber physical system representation (digital twin) of PALFINGER systems and all integrated sub-systems and components
  • Successfully execute all corporate PLM programs developing required technologies, capabilities, standard systems & modules
  • Lead all integrated subordinate functions of the CoE System Management & Engineering


  • Leadership experience and a high level of social skills
  • Completed university studies in engineering, industrial engineering or comparative qualification with a high affinity for systems engineering, system development and integration as well as validation
  • Comprehensive understanding of product development processes (Stage Gate, V-Model, Agile development methods, etc.) advantageous, but in particular knowledge of product development processes, product master data & configuration management necessary
  • A high affinity and understanding of technology
  • At least 5 years relevant professional experience as well as experience in international project management
  • Experience in the overall system engineering principles and practice including comprehensive understanding of the requirement management process including verification & validation of complex mechatronic systems
  • High level of understanding in the area of statistical design methods and practices (DFSS, robust design, reliability engineering, etc.)
  • Experience in the definition and integration of model based system engineering methods and tools
  • Strategic mind-set with excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Independent, structured and careful way of working
  • Skills in communication, conflict management and moderation
  • Fluent in Business English, additional languages are an advantage

Minimum gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 54.542,46 We are willing to overpay according to training and qualification.
