Director of Operations

The Director of Operations  is responsible for the overall performance of the Plant. Ensuring quality and cost targets are met and managing all aspects of Plant including; PPS, Continuous Improvement, Facilities Management and Safety. Plant planning, strategy, vision and direction, as well as working closely with the company’s corporate support functions to ensure the company culture and core values of PALFINGER are implemented at the Plant.

Your Tasks

  • Implements the vision, company culture and core values of PALFINGER within in the Plant.
  • Manages and optimizes the local operations – is accountable for the order fulfillment from goods receipt over production to shipment according to defined processes and group guidelines, required regulations, class society and internal/external standards (e.g PNORM) and agreed target costs.
  • Establishes positive collaboration across all functional elements of the business, specifically Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Sales and Business Development, to meet customer requirements.
  • Oversee plant resources and planning including labor, materials, machinery, equipment, tools, and subcontract activity.
  • Manages direct report leadership team including employing optimum core competencies and skill sets including hiring, managing team performance and training strategies.
  • Oversee and provide leadership with regards to facility maintenance and plant layout.
  • Overall responsibility of Health, Safety and Environment for the facility.
  • Directs planning forecasts and oversees resolution of any schedule/plans deviations.
  • Maintains master planning for all manufacturing requirements including overall manufacturing supply management.
  • Drives quality into all processes and activities.
  • Exploits synergies within the group and with externals.
  • Improve production triangle (cost-quality-delivery performance).
  • Drives LEAN thinking based on value streams and shop floor management.
  • Accountable for the local PPS Implementation and deployment and dries local digitalization implementation.
  • Cooperates with E2E process organization especially in building and developing process experts in required functions.
  • Takes a leading role in the lean management and implementing PPS.
  • Responsible for plant CAPEX planning, execution and approvals.
  • Accountable for local operations cost (entity and profit center level).

Your Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a technical field (e.g, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.) or equivalent experience.  Degree preferred
  • Prefer 10+ years of experience in Production, preferably the heavy machinery environment, with five (5+) years in a leadership capacity leading and motivating a large and diverse workforce.
  • Proven track record with the implementation of lean manufacturing and six sigma principles with an emphasis on operational excellence and continuous improvement. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certifications desired.
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite and SAP.
  • Exceptional leadership, decision making skills and with root cause analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, process and execution focused.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and executive presentation skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, and, most importantly, promote collaboration among the team.
