PALFINGER is searching for a Technical Writer.  We are located in Schaumburg, IL.  This position reports to the Regional Director of Customer Service. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and publish spare parts catalogs, technical information, installation instructions and customized documents.  
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting on progress and project completions to Leadership Teams.
  • Review and revise existing documents according to the requirements of Palfinger documentation standards and customer needs. 
  • Identify deficiencies in current documentation needs and create, implement, and track progress to correct. 
  • Manage, fill and maintain the publication tool databanks (PALDESK, Electronic Parts Catalog) and carry out function tests.
  • Collaboration in the continual optimization and further development of all processes and procedures in the area of technical documentation. 
  • Record internal process descriptions for work orders.
  • Collaboration in the continual optimization and further development of internal documentation software.
  • Collaboration in carrying out necessary software testing related to documentation. 
  • Collaboration in projects within the area of technical documentation keeping the target goals of the employer in focus.
  • Process individual requests for internal and external customers.
  • Provide information exchange and support to other product lines and general representatives.
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2-4 years proven competency from previous workplace experience in a related role. 
  • Excellent software knowledge (SAP, Creo, PDM-Link – Windchill, EPC, HMC, SPDF, Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent technical understanding with the ability to understand complex technical processes and describe them.
  • Excellent product knowledge (Service Cranes, Mechanics Trucks, Bucket Trucks, Truck Mounted Forklifts, etc).
  • Good knowledge of technical writing processes.
  • Independent worker and strong team-player; exceptionally customer oriented; having a great sense of responsibility and personal organization; aligning with the Palfinger values, displaying exceptional quality consciousness, as well as an analytical and economical mindset.
  • Must be comfortable working both individually and in a group.
  • Must be comfortable reporting and presenting to groups. 
  • Stylistically competent verbal and written English.
