The Quality Assurance Manager reports to the Director of Operations and will have a functional dotted line to the Regional Quality Manager of North America (NAM). The role will directly support PUSA’s Quality and Operations. This position is a key part of the PUSA Quality and Operations staff team. This position shall assist and support the Quality Operations and Product Lines, related Quality staff in both the tactical and strategic programs as directed by the Regional Quality Manager and the PUSA Operations Manager. This position will be onsite at our Division headquarters at 4151 W. State Roue 18, Tiffin, OH 44883, but will split time with our Charlotte, NC location at 1118 W. Craighead Rd., Charlotte, NC 28206.

Responsibilites
 

Quality

  • Continue to implement high Quality programs and develop the PUSA team members as needed for a world class QMS, procedures, work instructions per ISO 9001-2015, ANSI/SAIA 92.2, AWS D1.1 and other related-current standards
  • Organize the continuous improvement processes of the PUSA product lines to create and maintain the safe and highest-quality processes through new and existing Quality programs
  • Manage audits of QMS documents, processes, and products, to include, but not limited to purchasing products, manufacturing, receiving, in-process, final inspections, the review and disposition of warrantied products all following the PUSA Quality Management Systems (QMS) for compliance to industry, national and international standards such as ISO 9001-2015, ANSI/SAIA 92.2, AWS D1.1
  • Responsible for ensuring the proper collection, monitoring, maintaining, transparency, reporting, of all required Quality data
  • Making fact-based decisions using good data to track all PUSA quality results (KPIs) and submitting this data in required reports/charts to the PUSA, NAM and Corporate managers
  • Support Product Line Quality Management (PLQM) for PUSA’s product quality requirements
  • Support PLQM for risk analyses / FMEA’s (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Collaborate audits with Supplier Quality for PUSA’s sites and suppliers at their physical facilities to include the QMS documents and related processes to ensure the manufacturing of high Quality and low risk products are supplied to the PUSA sites
  • Develop and implement a receiving inspection, internal gate and final inspection processes that will prevent nonconforming product from getting into PUSA’s inventory, production and to customers
  • Implement and manage the Material Review Board (MRB), collect the related data, report and chart the data, disposition parts and perform needed root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions, organize the remedial actions
  • Organize and manage PUSA meetings to review, manage and improve overall Quality
  • Develop/Implement a continuous improvement process to review other sites processes for best practices and benchmarking opportunities
  • Support SAP Q-Module when implementation starts at the PUSA sites
  • Coordinate and manage stop shipments, recalls, containment actions for the PUSA sites and be aware of other sites’ recalls and part containment actions for similar issues in your responsible plants, working with regional quality management for visibility and escalation
  • Highly motivate and lead the plant quality teams to perform their work to the highest standards and professionalism while maintaining quality goals
  • Plan and schedule the internal audit program using the corporate internal audit program
  • Responsible for all PUSA Quality, Internal Quality, MRB, final Product Quality and Warranty
  • Strong ability to work with all departments through cross functional teams to address PUSA internal Quality and Warranty claims
  • Work well with all department managers by developing inspection plans and tools according to product requirements (gate and final testing/inspections)
  • Coordinate to preserve all measuring tool management (gage calibration program) and quality related investments and related training

 

Norms and Standards

  • Managing the standards for PUSA, other local standards, regional and national standards together with experts from different departments, these standards will include the compliance to Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ISO 9001-2015, ANSI/SAIA 92.2, AWS D1.1 and other relevant standards
  • Manage translation of European standards to the English language
  • At a minimum annually, check corporate P-Norms regarding local, legal requirements
  • Release new standards with proper documented training of standards, and proper document control per ISO 9001-2015
  • Distribute and train on new or revised standards & norms for the local organization and suppliers 
  • Benchmark and share PUSA and PALFINGER QMS documents, standards with local suppliers in cooperation with Regional Quality Manager, Regional Supplier Quality Management to ensure high product Quality

Qualifications

  • Strong effective communicator in writing, speaking, presenting, training in the English language with a focus on all levels of communication
  • Highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skills with the ability to work with difficult personalities while managing multiple teams and projects to success
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidence and common sense when making data based decisions
  • Able to manage cross functional teams of diverse professionals and shop staff
  • Able to increase productivity and continuously improve processes, corrective actions, and contribute to all departments while being cost-efficient 
  • Solid and continuous commitment to improvement of Quality
  • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and provide useful and strategic advice and input across the PUSA sites and on the PUSA Management team
  • Experience working in an employee empowering team/department while encouraging team members to independently think, make decisions, find solutions with your guidance 
  • High energy, professional, respectful, engaging, and influential personality is a must
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%


Experience, Education and Skills – Quality Assurance Manager:

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in related Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology Management, Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Management field
  • Required 10 - 15 years of more progressively responsible positions in Quality, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field. 5 years in a management role.
  • Required expertise in the following areas: Quality Management Systems, problem solving, managing and implementation of Quality tools and programs, drawing interpretation, measurement analysis, and FMEA
  • Prefer certifications from the American Society of Quality such as, CMQ/OE, CQE or CSSBB 
  • Prefer experience with welding, hydraulics, automotive electrical systems
  • Fluent in English, working knowledge of German and Spanish a plus
