Working as a bridge between sales and production teams, the PUSA Mechanical Engineer uses customer input and sales information to design or re-design, develop, test and implement truck system designs and applications. They also provide technical support and expertise to the manufacturing team on the shop floor during builds. Mechanical Engineers reach across many departments, working within the engineering team and with the sales team, the customer service team and the manufacturing team. The Mechanical Engineer is considered an “expert” in Truck and Aerial application analysis and development. 

 

This position is onsite and reports to the Engineering Manager at 4151 W. State Route 18, Tiffin, OH 44883.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Quoting to assure complete and accurate information exists for all orders
  • Articulates product designs to both business and technical users 
  • Responds to functional and technical elements of bids and quotes 
  • Assists in the design and development of new products to satisfy customer requirements
  • Develops and maintains accurate design data, 3D models and 2D drawings for both internal and external customers
  • Works with Product Engineers to develop necessary options and design solutions
  • Supports Quote group with pricing estimates
  • Develops and maintains databases for: project management; standard unit design; standard options; and sales information
  • Works with Manufacturing Team to ensure quality build
  • Builds, distributes, and coordinates shop review packets including: Complete BOMs; electrical and hydraulic schematics; and option placement drawings
  • Develops chassis application knowledge and supporting year model data
  • Resolves customer issues in a way that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives 
  • Provides status, written and oral, of ongoing projects and future projects 
  • Makes necessary engineering calculations to support product selection/recommendation
  • Provides input to product enhancements and process improvements
  • Supports R&D engineering in translating customer's needs into manufacturable products 

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Experience 2–5 Years in similar product design or product management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with SolidWorks or other parametric design software
  • Can create and read mechanical and electrical drawings and has a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Proven project management skills
  • High results-driven attitude 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Available for Travel 10%
