The new global functions within GSP

Structure GSP Palfinger
The new Global Strategic Purchasing (GSP) organisation is a typical matrix organisation emphasizing the different PALFINGER products on one side and the Global Palfinger Structure (GPS) on the other side.

The new GSP organisation facilitates global networking to activate group wide synergies in the different local purchasing organisations.

So called
Product Purchasing Coordinators are the counterparts to the Global Product Managers. They participate actively in development processes, communicate market needs to the Sourcing Group Lead Buyers and support target costing activities for the different PALFINGER products. They are also responsible for generating new ideas and involving suppliers for further improvements.

The
Supply Market Analyst supports PALFINGER with global market information and is the first contact for new suppliers, who want to get in contact with PALFINGER.

The sourcing activities within PALFINGER are organised according to
4 main categories of articles:

  • Commodity Parts
  • Drawing Parts
  • Raw Material
  • Indirect Spend & Investments
Which add up to about 80 different sourcing groups.

Each category is led by one
Category Lead Buyer (CLB). The CLB develops global category standards and strategic approaches. He leads the Sourcing Group Lead Buyer (SGLB), buyers and support functions. Within his category he is also responsible for handling quality issues together with the global Supplier Quality Management and supplier delivery performance together with the Global Supply Chain Management.

The
Plant Lead Buyer (PLB) leads a team of Sourcing Group Lead Buyers and/or buyers. The PLB is in close coordination with the Category Lead Buyers in order to develop global category standards and strategic approaches. Additionally, he coordinates all local purchasing issues for the plant where he is located. Furthermore, the PLB supports the regional market research, leads regional initiatives and communicates/implements GSP, category and SG-strategies in his region.

Each
Sourcing Group Lead Buyer (SGLB) coordinates his team members (buyers, experts, a.s.o.), defines SG strategies within his team and manages global sourcing activities. In addition to this he is responsible for the complete Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and the definition of the supply base (preferred supplier).

Site Buyers are responsible for local sourcing activities and support the SGLB in their activities to leverage the full network.

In the four areas Europe, North America, South America and Asia & Pacific
Area Lead Buyers are responsible for supporting area market researches, implementing global sourcing strategies and leading regional initiatives.

Diverse administrative
Support just like order processing in the field of indirect spends and IT key user activities are given by important and qualified support functions.
