The Head of Strategy of PALFINGER 21st is the process owner of the strategy framework and defines relevant tools and ways of working. With his/her team, he/she is responsible for identification and analysis of future innovation opportunity areas for PALFINGER, deriving recommendation for action, capturing value and driving prioritization of business opportunities. He/she supports the organization through analysis of technology trends, market opportunities and customer needs and provides transparency on relevant market developments. The position holder is part of the PALFINGER 21st Leadership team and contributes to the strategy and further development of the corporate incubator.

Your Tasks

  • Define and build the PALFINGER 21st strategy framework (implement tools & processes)
  • Define and implement KPIs, metrics and scorecard for the strategy process
  • Manage internal network & external ecosystem to access relevant data for strategy definition
  • Compile and analyze relevant influences on innovation strategy (technology, market, customer)
  • Populate and continuously update the Strategy Radar to identify areas of innovation
  • Drive scoping, assessment and recommendation for prioritization of areas of innovation
  • Organize regular strategic reviews with the Executive board for prioritization
  • Lead the strategy development for the most promising areas of innovation
  • Lead the PALF 21st strategy team, hire and foster talents to build a strong, effective team

Your Qualification

  • Advanced graduate degree with excellent academic record in either with a technical- and or a business focus (PH.D. or MBA preferred)
  • Relevant experience and proof points in a research environment, strategy consulting or innovation management role ideally with a strong link to strategy development
  • Practical working experiences in building winning strategies, with customer centric development, with new to world technologies capturing new market segments
  • Excellent knowledge of tools and methodologies required to assess new Business Opportunities, ability to rationalize business cases and value creation hypothesis
  • Good understanding of how to execute structured ecosystem analysis (Market, Customer Trends, Competition, Intellectual properties, …)
  • Experience in building-up and leading a team of expert and a large network
  • Highly motivated self-starter with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strategic thinker with good business acumen who can translate a vision to strategy
  • Strong communicator who knows how to disseminate complex issues to various audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build consensus, communicate priorities and expectations
  • Flexible personality which operates well in an intercultural environment and can build bridges
  • Strong opinion leader motivated and not discouraged by strong headwinds
  • Business fluent in German and English

Minimum gross salary according to Austrian metal industry collective agreement is EUR 52.310,80 per year. We are willing to overpay according to training and qualification.
