RAP
RAP. Order-based crane assembly in self-managing teams

PALFINGER introduces RAP
PALFINGER is producing faster and more individually as a result of the new organisational structure. RAP stands for “Rapid Process” and means the introduction of fixed delivery times for truck loading cranes supplied ex works.

As a result of the project, lead times have been significantly reduced. The guaranteed delivery period for truck loading cranes (with equipment as per price list) after receipt of order is just 15 working days ex works, or 20 working days for large cranes. The changed, customer-oriented process organisation sets new standards in crane assembly.

RAP - order-based production
PALFINGER is posing itself a completely new challenge at organisational level and is thus advancing from the series production methods usually applied up to now in crane assembly to order-based production. In this context the market provides the impetus for operational procedures. As a result, every crane is available at any time ex-works within the defined delivery period because it is not subject to a series production plan and is built according to customer order.

RAP - the innovative organisational structure
RAP is an organisational development project with which PALFINGER is creating a customer-oriented process organisation and is proving its innovative strength also at the process level. RAP means a series of major changes for production, assembly and logistics. The organisational structure has been adapted to the new requirements. The employees have been organised in largely self-managing teams. This entails a higher level of qualification and responsibility for each team member. Each crane is a unique product. The assembly operatives know for which customer the crane on which they are working is intended. This provides motivation and a commitment to quality in all sectors of production.

For the customer RAP means that with the aid of the new organisation each crane is produced in line with individual requirements within a short, clearly defined period. Conversions or expensive retrofits, which previously had to be carried out by the dealer, are now a thing of the past. The advantages reside in the original finish and the quality guarantee of the works-tested crane.
