The new CRAYLER F3 203 all-terrain transportable forklift impresses in operating practice: Transport logistics with all-wheel drive from PALFINGER.

For loading and unloading goods, transport companies have a wide range of aids available. From the truck loading crane and the tail-lift to the simple forklift. But how do transport companies handle this task if they are not driving to yards with handling facilities but mainly to construction sites?

While reference can be justifiably made to the construction site crane in such cases, this does involve some risks which are difficult to predict. Supplies being transported to the building site often comprise material which is needed for interior work, and by this time the crane may have already been removed. If the crane is still there, waiting times and discussions are in most cases required before the crane can be 'transferred' to this activity. A forklift is therefore a highly interesting alternative for this purpose when speed, independence and deadline reliability are required.

Peter Botschek, from the transport company of the same name based in the Nördlingen area, was thinking along these lines when his firm was in the process of purchasing a new truck: "We supply finished products to construction sites for a large glass manufacturer and cannot rely on whatever handling equipment is available on site. I therefore decided to deploy a CRAYLER transportable forklift with all-wheel drive from Palfinger." An all-wheel-drive car can definitely be justified – but a forklift? Peter Botschek has good reasons for this purchase: "Around a building under construction we often find uneven or freshly excavated ground. A normal forklift could not handle these conditions even without a load. On the other hand, we cannot just unload the material and leave it standing. I can load my Crayler with up to 2,000 kg and still handle any uneven ground."

The new Crayler F3 all-wheel-drive transportable forklift is impressive not only in working duty. Plus points for the user include for example its compact design and complete body panelling. This protects all the important assemblies from damage and dirt. Also important is the excellent power to weight ratio – because every kilogram of weight the forklift requires counts. In terms of safety, operation and maintenance Palfinger with the F3 203 likewise offers the latest state of the art. The centrally located driver's seat provides an excellent overview, also when reversing, for the safety of the people working in the vicinity. The operating levers are arranged ergonomically and in good view to the side of the driver. A sturdy protective structure provides optimal protection for the driver. All assemblies which need to be accessible for the few maintenance requirements are easily reachable under the large engine compartment cover – and, what's more, the special cathodic paint-system ensures lasting protection against corrosion.

Peter Botschek has now unloaded the panes of glass and has driven to the front side of his new MAN TG 410 A truck, which features a swap-body system, installed by the firm of Kurz from Stimpfach-Randenweiler. With a few control movements he places the Crayler exactly in front of the lifting mechanism, inserts the forks into the system and lifts himself up using the forklift motor. And on to the next job!
