Optimised for Practical Use
Increased lifting moment with the dead load remaining almost identical
GP: We were further able to optimise the ratio between lifting power and dead weight by means of design measures and new production technologies!
MV: Increasing the lifiting capacity by up to 15 % in comparison with forerunner models is impressive. However, the fact that this crane performance is possible without any significant increase in the dead weight, demonstrates PALFINGER's technology leadership in the processing of high-strength materials. The very low dead weight of the PALFINGER crane has always been one of the most crucial of the requirement specifications. The increasing significance of weight reductions, not only for economic but also for environmental reasons, confirms the wisdom of this path we are following.PALFINGER Krane sind Leichtgewichte.
PALFINGER Cranes are Lightweights Maintenance-free extension system
MV: PALFINGER is placing even greater emphasis on ease of maintenance with the maintenance-free extension system. This will save our customers time and money and will reduce the crane's operating costs still further. For the businessman, the frequently referred to "total cost of ownership," that is to say the total costs of the investment products over their lifetime, represents a significant purchasing decision in this day and age. This is taken into consideration during the structural design of the crane.
GP: We have been carrying out tests for many years during the development of our maintenance-free extension system to find the ideal combination of materials. The slides are now moulded from a special plastic and have self-lubricating properties. No further servicing work is required after the one-off initial lubrication which uses vegetable grease. This not only saves the operator time and money but also protects the environment.
PALFINGER Cranes Operate Cost-Effectively and in Harmony with the Environment
Environmental protection has always been a "big deal" at PALFINGER. As a result, all crane components which require corrosion protection – over and beyond the statutory equirements – are provided with a chromiumVI-free coating!
MV: Consistent continuation of the "functional design" concept was a focus of the new crane series. Control consoles and covers have to be not only visually appealing but also high in quality and rugged in use. Ergonomics and fulfilment of function come to the fore in this case.
GP: By using extremely robust, premium synthetic materials, able to be used in temperatures ranging from -40 to +80 degrees celsius, the crane has been successfully and extensively upgraded. To service, simply remove the console. The control panel is a successful combination of steel and state of the art plastics. It is backlit by LEDs. These make it easier to read off the machine functions and provide the crane operator with a rapid overview of the entire panel during the working process. The soft-touch rubber mixture used on the control levers is absolutely top-class when it comes to ergonomics. The integrated tilt display and the redesigned load carrying plate on the crane, which is matched individually to each crane model, also mean increased safety.
MV: The established spiral hose for protecting the hydraulic hoses has now become standard for all PALFINGER cranes from this point on. The larger stabilizer plates of the upporting cylinders are movable and enable better adaptation to the ground surface.
Electronics
GP: Overload and numerous other functions are controlled purely by electronics. A digital operating-hours counter has additionally been integrated into the proven PALTRONIC 50. It is possible to expect new electronic highlights with regards to the large crane models of the new "High Performance" range which will begin their introduction to the market towards the end of 2008. Established PALFINGER features for more power, safety and comfort
MV: The outer boom unfolds "backwards" up to 15 degrees above horizontal (Power Link Plus) – normally only used in large cranes – is now available from the PK model 8502 up. The use of the "Power Link Plus" is unique so far in the 10 metre tonne class. Thus this crane series also profits from PALFINGER's knowhow and market leadership in the large crane sector in the optimisation of ultimate load curves and motion geometry.
GP: PALFINGER cranes are fitted as standard with a patented outrigger safety system: The PALFINGER interlock system has been developed as a state of the art and highly userfriendly solution for securing the manual extendable outrigger system. Along with automatic locking and unlocking of the catch bolt, the outriggers are also secured by an arresting hook.
MV: Features such as "E-HPLS", the integrated stability control (ISC), the active oscillation suppression system (AOS) or the radio remote control system with LED display have proven their excellence in the past and round off the "High Performance" crane package. To sum up, PALFINGER, unlike any other manufacturer, offers crane systems with the greatest efficiency and operating reliability.
The active oscillation system (AOS) available exclusively from PALFINGER compensates impacts and severe load changes which occur due to operation of the crane. It is possible due to the lack of oscillations to work more accurately, considerably faster and thus more cost-effectively. This is a huge advantage with large outreaches and when moving heavy loads.
With the "E-HPLS" it is possible to reduce the crane's working speed and simultaneously increase the lifting power if required. Electronic regulation of the high-end control valve additionally enables multiple controllability, i.e. several crane functions can be performed at once.
The integrated stability control (ISC) is a system that monitors the stability of the crane vehicle. The system adjusts the crane's lifting forces depending on the current stability support situation and the crane boom to ensure the vehicle's stability over the entire working range.
